Corporate Citizenship

It is our belief that all businesses should be good citizens of the community in which they operate.  The notion that personal ethics are somehow different than business ethics is simply a cop-out for poor behavior.  We feel that people either act in a way that promotes a good community or they do not, period.  The idea of a second set of ethics that take over once one walks into his or her business and ends when they get back home is ridiculous.  Either we act as good citizens or we do not, it's that simple.

In our effort to be good corporate citizens that positively affect our local community and our global community we have committed to the following actions:

  • We founded www.VolunteerNRV.com to encourage volunteerism in the NRV.  Volunteer NRV is also a partner of VT-ENGAGE.
  • We are committed to donating 1% of our total collections to local charities and non-propfits that are working the enhance and protect the people and land of the NRV.
  • We are a "carbon neutral" business (through the purchase of carbon credits that counterbalance our impact by supporting renewable energy projects).
  • We are committed to supporting locally owned and operated businesses because significantly more of each dollar spent stays in the NRV than a dollar spent at a chain with out of town ownership.  This helps our local economy.
  • We are committed to using recycled paper and recycling the office paper that we use.
  • We are committed to using non-toxic biodegradable cleaning products in our office to protect our patients as well as the environment.
  • When we run new patient specials we will team up with local charities.  For example, we have collected canned food for the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program for a new patient special.
  • Our goal is to be a model of how even a small local business can go beyond it's core business and have a positive impact both locally and globally.
